AISFAM: File Access Manager For AISBackup

The AISBackup version of File Access Manager allows AISBackup to backup opened exclusive and locked files to ensure business continuity and protection of mission critical data. File Access Manager was designed to be non-intrusive while running in the background silently without any noticeable slowdown.

Some users of AISBackup have experienced problems using Microsoft's Volume Copy Shadow Service to backup opened exclusive files under Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, AISFAM provides a suitable alternative.

AISBackup cannot backup opened exclusive files from 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7, AISFAM is a requirement for opened exclusive file support on these operating systems'.

If AISFAM is running on a networked PC the data and operating system from that PC may be backed up in its entirety, this is something that Microsoft's Volume Copy Shadow Service does not support. Running AISFAM on networked PC's also means that the backup's themselves can be initiated from a 'central' PC rather than having to run individual backup jobs on each PC. However, restores should still be made directly from the remote PC, especially if in-use files are to be replaced.

AISBackup's version of File Access Manager works best with version 2.3 or higher of AISBackup.
